Since that Taylor Allderice gets heavy rotations on my pod I decided it was time to stop faking the funk and look up the samples for 2 of my favorite songs off the tape. As I have probably mentioned before, this tape has made me gain a lot of respect for Wiz and his camp. Cardo is a beat on the boards and Sledgren is taking his production game to a whole nother level. Just take a listen to this piece of art right here.
Wiz Khalifa – O.N.I.F.C.
Pretty groovy huh. That bass at the end just makes a nigga zone out like he just took one hell of a tote. Made me slouch back in my seat the way I felt it enter my chest. The sample is on that house music tip which makes a lot of sense if you think about it.
Kaskade – I Remember
This track is laced with a sample that embodies the spirit of those old smoking clubs with one dude just playing a piano and everything in the room was so dark and blue. The bassline is simple and Wiz caressed the beat properly.
Wiz Khalifa – M.I.A. Wallace
The sample has more of a jazz feel to it. It’s structured and every sound is purposeful.
Oscar Peterson – Wave
Thing make me feel like I should be in a club somewhere in Havana seducing some pyt.
