I just saw a video of Statik Selektah and Scram Jones in the studio making a beat off the top. It got me thinking back to that Just Blaze video where he was making a beat off the top as well. I haven’t really heard any body, besides these two, make beats off the top that was as raw as these two. I want to know which producer that “you” think did the better job. Peep Continue reading

Cam’ron & Juelz Santana – Stretch Armstrong 15 Minute Freestyle
This is classic Dipset. I think this was done around 2000 when Cam released S.D.E. They were so hungry back then. Definitely one of my all time favorite freestyles. Enjoy people… Continue reading
DOM Kennedy in new Gatorade promo
DOM Kennedy’s “2MPH” song was used in this new Gatorade promo for an all day session. I wonder how many stacks DOM got for this and I wonder who came up with the idea to get DOM’s song for this. Anyways I approve!
Sample used by J.Cole & DOM Kennedy
Just finished watching this Boyz N The Hood and there was a part in the movie where Tre and Ricky were taking the SAT and I couldn’t help to notice a familiar tune playing in the background. Peep Continue reading
Lil Wayne – She Will feat. Drake & Rick Ross
Wayne just dropped this song and for the few time in a while (and I do mean a while) I’m actually feeling his raps. He might regain me as a fan depending on this Carter IV will sound. This song is nice, the biggest boss thus far laid it down as well. I’m glad he let the majority of Young Money off the song.

Jay-Z & Kanye West – Watch The Throne Album Review
So finally we have the most anticipated album of the year, “Watch The Throne”, from Jay-Z and Kanye West. I can’t lie, I had no clue what to expect unlike my partner so I was curious to see how this project turned out. Let’s get into it….
No Church In The Wild ft Frank Ocean
Sample: “K Scope” performed by Phil Manzanera . “Don’t Tell A Lie About Me and I Won’t Tell The Truth About You” as performed by James Brown
The album starts off with a funky tune and pounding drums, my head immediately starts bouncing. Frank Ocean lays a smooth and interesting chorus,
“Human being to the mob / What’s a mob to a king? / What’s a king to a god? / What’s a god to a non-believer / Who don’t believe in anything? / Will he make it out alive? / Alright alright / No church in the wild”
Jay drops a memorable verse filled with religious references, questions and truth, definitely worth a listen. In the middle of the track, someone starts singing, I have to check the iTunes because it sounds like Last Train To Paris playing. It’s The Dream singing followed by Kanye, who also lays a nice verse with notable bars like,
Two tattoos one read No Apologies, the other said Love Is Cursed By Monogamy / It’s somethin’ that the pastor don’t preach / It’s somethin’ thata teacher can’t teach / When we die the money we can’t keep, but we probably spend it all cuz the pain ain’t cheap …Preach –Kanye West
I’m feeling this track. I always liked albums that start out with some raw, thought-provoking rhymes, this is it. My hopes are high as I continue through the album. Sidenote: You hear those monkeys at the end? Haha.
Oddisee – 101 Review
Mello Music Group offered the Oddisee 101 album for free one friday not too long ago. I have been listening to his work for quite some time and I am a fan of the Diamond District’s In The Ruff Album (download immediately and sync to ipod). We don’t really talk about the artist from the DMV that often so why not review Oddisee’s latest contribution. Let’s see what we are working with here. Continue reading
